Clinical Nurse Specialist
Palliative Care
Hospice West Auckland’s vision is to provide compassionate, comprehensive and responsive palliative care to the people of West Auckland. Our holistic, integrated approach is designed to deliver the very best care to our patients and their families/whanau.
We are seeking an experienced practitioner, with postgraduate qualifications in palliative care and ideally working towards a degree qualification with a palliative focus. You will join our dedicated team of health professionals, in providing the highest quality services in the community. Having practiced as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 4 years you will have worked in a palliative care or oncology setting for at least 2 years. Experience in community nursing would be advantageous. Effective time management and the ability to work well under pressure combined with innovation and commitment will be well rewarded with a generous package including flexible working hours.

We are seeking a confident practitioner, experienced in community nursing and/or palliative care, to join our dedicated team of health professionals. You will have been practicing as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 2 years and will have worked in a palliative care or oncology setting for at least 1 year. Experience in community nursing would be advantageous. You have the ability to work as part of a team, and are able to make decisions under pressure. Your impeccable assessment skills and high standards of care will be well rewarded with a generous package, including flexible working hours. This is a .8 FTE position. A current driving license is essential.

Palliative Care Specialist 

 Hospice West Auckland is looking for an experienced Palliative Care Specialist to help design, implement and deliver their exciting future plans that ultimately will mean offering a unique, fresh approach to community palliative care for West Auckland.

As part of the management team, you will take a central role in designing the strategy to ensure the future direction and development of frontline Palliative Care Services.  You will also be excited about sharing your experiences and imparting your knowledge via ongoing educational initiatives with our palliative nursing staff.

 Key Responsibilities:

 

        -       Strategy and planning with management team

-          Patient assessments

-          Advice to external health professionals

-          Medical peer reviews

-          Contributing to specialist training and education

Reporting to the Specialist Palliative Care Manager, your core values definitely include a desire to listen, lead and teach as you will be the pivotal member of a collegial, multi-disciplinary team who all offer care to terminally ill patients. This is a role where active liaison is a given - from social workers, councilors and complimentary health providers, to the family GP - and most importantly to patients’ families and caregivers.

 

We are embarking on the first stage of developing its comprehensive Palliative Care Services programme. This is nothing short of the perfect opportunity for the suitable Palliative Care Specialist to put their indelible stamp on the future direction and the development of services.

  • Administration – cash handling, banking and pricing
  • Marketing – you will be working smartly to achieve your store targets
Here your people skills will be the perfect complement to your first-rate coordination capability. Your cultural and community awareness are important as you deal with people from all walks of life - not to mention knack for the presentation of goods for sale. While some retail or second hand goods would be ideal experience, what's more important is your energy and commitment to getting the job done and ability to have a few laughs along the way.

  • Ensuring the shop is always welcoming and attractively displayed
  • Making sure the shop is appropriately stocked and that items/furniture/garments are priced in accordance with agreed pricing structures as set by West Auckland Hospice.
  • Welcoming customers into the shop who will then receive excellent customer service
