Hospice West Auckland’s stated vision is to provide compassionate, responsive palliative care services to people with life-threatening illness in the West Auckland region. They also firmly believe that the old way isn’t necessarily the best way. To quote their CEO, “With our future services, we are definitely not looking for the same old same old – we are after game change and innovation as ultimately it’s about how we deliver the highest quality services to our community and nothing less.”
Reporting to the Specialist Palliative Care Manager, your core values definitely include a desire to listen, lead and teach as you will be the pivotal member of a collegial, multi-disciplinary team who all offer care to terminally ill patients. This is a role where active liaison is a given - from social workers, councilors and complimentary health providers, to the family GP - and most importantly to patients’ families and caregivers.
We are embarking on the first stage of developing its comprehensive Palliative Care Services programme. This is nothing short of the perfect opportunity for the suitable Palliative Care Specialist to put their indelible stamp on the future direction and the development of services.
