Palliative Care Medical Specialist
Are you looking for a challenging leadership role where you can make your mark in specialist palliative care?

You will be living and working in a city that consistently ranks in the top five in worldwide quality of living surveys. Hospice West Auckland is located on the picturesque Te Atatu Peninsula in New Zealand’s biggest and most vibrant city. The west coast beaches are renowned for their outstanding beauty - perfect for a walk along the coast, fishing, surfing and swimming. West Auckland is the home of famous world surf competitions, movie sets, boutique beers and fine wines.
Providing a high quality of specialist palliative care to the people of West Auckland during life-limiting illness, our highly-skilled interdisciplinary team offers a unique blend of holistic care for patients, families, whanau and carers. Your role will be to lead and manage the medical care for patients and their families and whanau, to educate colleagues and other healthcare professionals, and to participate in quality initiatives.
You will take a leadership role in the development of a new 10 bed Hospice in patient unit in West Auckland. There will also be opportunities for research and the potential to supervise and consult with medical colleagues at Hibiscus Hospice in the Whangaparaoa Peninsula in patient unit.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer you are an energetic and enthusiastic person with a medical degree (FAChPM or equivalent). You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a great sense of humour, extensive experience in palliative medicine in both community and inpatient settings, and the passion to make a difference.
